WordPress + Kit (ConvertKit) integration

Kit's WordPress plugin shows forms on your site. A Plandalf button on the same site tags paid buyers in Kit and starts their sequence.

No credit card required. No coding required.

Does WordPress integrate with Kit (ConvertKit)?

WordPress hosts the page and Kit holds the subscribers; Plandalf links the sale to the tag. A Plandalf button in a Custom HTML block opens the checkout, and native Kit steps tag the buyer and add them to a form or sequence. Kit's WordPress plugin handles forms and is separate, so no Zapier is needed.

Tag a WordPress buyer in Kit

You need a WordPress login that can insert JavaScript, a published Plandalf offer and a Kit account where you can create a V4 API key.

  1. Add the Plandalf button

In the page Code editor or a Custom HTML block paste the Plandalf SDK script and a button with data-plandalf-present and the offer slug. Save, publish, and click the button on the live page.

  2. Leave the Kit plugin as it is

Kit's plugin help describes a default form that appears below posts and pages. It is independent of Plandalf, so you can keep it, assign forms per page, or switch it off on the checkout page.

  3. Create a Kit V4 key

In Kit open the account menu, then Settings, Developer and Add a new key under V4 Keys. Use the V4 key and not the legacy V3 key.

  4. Connect Kit in Plandalf

Go to Automation, Marketplace, click Connect on Kit under Available now and paste the key. Plandalf tests it with Kit and shows Kit connected.

  5. Tag and enrol the buyer

In a sequence on Plandalf and Checkout Completed, add Kit, Tag Subscriber with {{trigger.customer_email}} and a tag like Member, then Kit, Add Subscriber to Sequence for an active sequence in Kit.

  6. Test with a test card

Switch on Run on test purchases, buy with your own email, check the tag in Kit, and switch the setting off. Add Remove access on refund with the same tag for refunds.

What sellers do with WordPress and Kit (ConvertKit)

Writer selling a paid archive

A writer keeps a Kit signup form below every post using the plugin and sells the back catalogue as a Plandalf offer. Paid readers get an Archive tag and a sequence with the reading guide.

Workshop recordings for form subscribers

Free subscribers arrive through a Kit form. A Plandalf button on a landing page sells the workshop recording, and buyers are tagged Workshop so the broadcast with the link reaches only them.

Limits and gotchas

  • Plandalf connects to Kit with an API key, so purchases do not appear in Kit's purchase history. Record what someone bought with a tag or a custom field.
  • Kit's help says its plugin can show content to subscribers based on their tags. Whether a Plandalf tag unlocks WordPress content is a Kit plugin setting, and Plandalf does not guarantee that kind of access control.
  • Plandalf's MemberPress plugin is an early-access source release, so do not use it for guarded WordPress content yet.
  • Plandalf has no subscription-cancelled trigger, so a cancelled subscription does not remove the Kit tag on its own.
  • Tag Subscriber creates the buyer in Kit if they are new. Make sure the checkout and your terms cover marketing email.

WordPress and Kit (ConvertKit): common questions

Does WordPress integrate with Kit (ConvertKit)?
Yes, Kit has an official WordPress plugin that adds Kit forms and other content to a site. Plandalf is separate: it adds a checkout button and tags paid buyers in Kit.
How do I connect Kit to a Plandalf checkout on WordPress?
Put the button in a Custom HTML block, connect Kit under Automation, Marketplace with a V4 key, and build a sequence on Checkout Completed with Tag Subscriber.
WordPress ConvertKit integration: do I need the Kit plugin?
No. Plandalf's Kit steps work with only an API key. The plugin matters if you want Kit forms or tag-based content on the WordPress site.
Can a Kit tag open up a WordPress page after payment?
Kit's help says its plugin can show content based on tags, and Plandalf's Tag Subscriber step sets the tag. Check Kit's plugin guide for how to apply it before relying on it for paid content.
