Script in a block, theme or plugin

Add a Plandalf checkout to WordPress

Paste one script and a button into a Custom HTML block, or load the script from your theme, and the checkout opens over any page.

WordPress.com needs a paid plan with hosting features active before it keeps script tags.

How it connects

WordPress is the page shell. Plandalf is the till.

WordPress hosts the page. A script and a button open the checkout.

How Plandalf reaches WordPress

Script in a block, theme or plugin

Custom HTML block for one page, theme template for a site, or a header and footer plugin. Identity can pass logged-in users in.

WordPress handles content, templates and members. Plandalf adds the Offer, checkout, promo pricing, invoices and the work after the sale, and can recognise a logged-in WordPress user through a signed identity token.

Checkout embed available

WordPress owns

  • Pages, posts and themes
  • Plugins, users and memberships
  • Hosting and caching

Plandalf owns

  • The Offer and its checkout
  • Promo pricing and countdowns
  • Invoices and post-purchase automation

Same on every platform: payment goes through your own Stripe or PayPal account, Plandalf keeps the invoice, and every Offer has a hosted link and a test mode link.

What syncs

What moves between WordPress and Plandalf

There is no Plandalf plugin for general WordPress sites, and no native WordPress app. The page is the integration.

Why add Plandalf

What WordPress’s own checkout can’t do

WordPress core has no checkout at all. The checkout is whatever plugin you add, so what it can do depends on that plugin.

  • No checkout in core WordPress

Selling means adding a plugin such as WooCommerce or a membership plugin, each with its own checkout, settings and updates. Plandalf stands beside them and opens from any page.

  • Plugin checkouts differ page to page

A checkout plugin styles itself with your theme. A Plandalf Offer is designed once in Plandalf and looks the same on every page and on a site that is not WordPress.

  • Scripts can be filtered

WordPress.com keeps script tags only on a paid plan with hosting features active. Self-hosted sites depend on your role and security plugins.

Set it up

Add Plandalf to WordPress in four steps

Start with one page. Move the script into the theme once it works.

  1. 1

    Make a draft test page

Add a new page, then open the editor’s Options menu and choose Code editor so the HTML is exactly what you paste.

  2. 2

Paste the script and a button

Add one Custom HTML block with your SDK URL and a button carrying your offer slug. Keep data-plandalf-mode as test for now.

    <!-- wp:html -->
    <script src="https://your-org.plandalf.dev/js/plandalf-sdk.js" async></script>
    <button data-plandalf-present="pro-plan" data-plandalf-mode="test">Open test checkout</button>
    <!-- /wp:html -->
  3. 3

Save, publish and view the live page

Wait for Saved, publish, then open the page signed out and click the button. Cache plugins and optimisers can move or delay scripts, so test the live output rather than the editor.

  4. 4

    Move the script site-wide

For production load the script from your theme’s footer or a header and footer plugin, remove it from the block, and keep the button markup on the pages that sell.

Gotchas

What catches people out on WordPress

  • The script disappears when you save

WordPress strips script tags for users and plans that are not allowed unfiltered HTML. If the code vanishes, check your plan and role before debugging anything else.

  • Cache and optimisation plugins

They can combine, defer or move the Plandalf script. Exclude it from minification if the button does nothing on the live page.

  • Identity must be signed on the server

plandalf.identify() takes a signed JWT, and the SDK makes no validation call itself. A plain email string is not accepted as identity. Use checkout properties to prefill an email.

  • Load the script before you identify

On membership pages, use a non-async script tag so plandalf.ready() fires after the SDK is in place.

  • Two checkouts on one page

If a plugin checkout and a Plandalf button share a page, make the handoff clear in the copy so a buyer is not charged twice.

Integrations

Keep your site. Upgrade how it sells.

Plus a fully documented REST API and webhook layer for whatever’s not in the list.

Questions

WordPress checkout questions

The short answers. The docs have the long ones.

How do I add a Plandalf checkout to WordPress?

Add a Custom HTML block containing your SDK script and a button with data-plandalf-present set to the offer slug. For a whole site, load the script from the theme or a header and footer plugin instead.

Can I add an upsell to a WordPress checkout?

Yes, in the Plandalf Offer. WordPress core has no checkout, so upsells depend on which checkout plugin you use. A Plandalf button opens an Offer that already carries your bumps and upsells.

Does this work with WordPress and Stripe?

Plandalf takes payment through your own Stripe or PayPal account. WordPress only hosts the button. Plandalf records the invoice, not WordPress.

Is there a Plandalf WordPress plugin?

Only for MemberPress, and it is an early-access source release. For everything else you paste the script and attributes as above.

Why is my Plandalf script missing after saving in WordPress.com?

WordPress.com only keeps script tags on a paid plan with hosting features activated, which you get by adding a plugin. If the tag is still removed, try an Embed block.

Can I show a countdown timer in WordPress?

Yes. Add a div with data-plandalf-promo and your promo slug, and put data-plandalf-apply-promo on the buy button so the checkout price follows the deadline.
