WordPress + ActiveCampaign integration

ActiveCampaign's WordPress plugin handles forms and tracking. A Plandalf button on the same page sends paid buyers into ActiveCampaign by Send Webhook.

No credit card required. No coding required.

Does WordPress integrate with ActiveCampaign?

Plandalf has no native ActiveCampaign step, so the link is a webhook. WordPress hosts the page with a Plandalf button, and a Plandalf sequence calls ActiveCampaign's contact sync API with Send Webhook or Zapier to create and tag the buyer. ActiveCampaign's own WordPress plugin is separate and covers forms and site tracking.

Create and tag an ActiveCampaign contact from a WordPress sale

You need a WordPress login that can insert JavaScript, a published Plandalf offer and your ActiveCampaign API key and account URL.

  1. Add the SDK and the button

Edit the page, add a Custom HTML block, and paste the Plandalf script with a button carrying data-plandalf-present. If many pages sell, load the script from the theme instead.

  2. Look at what the page runs already

ActiveCampaign's WordPress plugin can embed its forms and install site tracking code. Both scripts run beside Plandalf's, so open the published page and confirm the button still works with them present.

  3. Find the API URL and key

ActiveCampaign's reference shows the contact sync call as a POST to your account's host at /api/3/contact/sync with the key in an Api-Token header. Copy both from your ActiveCampaign account.

  4. Create the sequence

Open Automation, then My Sequences, and make a sequence on Plandalf, Checkout Completed and your offer. Pick a recent checkout on the Test tab.

  5. Add the Send Webhook step

Choose Plandalf, Send Webhook, set POST and your sync URL, and add the Api-Token header. The payload holds a contact object with email as {{trigger.customer_email}}, firstName as {{trigger.customer_first_name}} and the tags you want.

  6. Hand over to an automation

In ActiveCampaign create an automation that starts when the tag is added and put your onboarding emails in it. Switch on Run on test purchases, buy with your own email, check the response in the Events view, and switch the setting off.

What sellers do with WordPress and ActiveCampaign

Lead magnet turned into a paid audit

A consultant gathers leads with an ActiveCampaign form in the WordPress sidebar and sells a paid audit through Plandalf on the same site. Paid buyers are tagged Audit Client, so the sales automation stops chasing them.

Webinar replay purchase

A WordPress page shows a webinar summary with a button to buy the replay. The buyer is synced into ActiveCampaign with a Replay tag and receives the access email from an automation.

Limits and gotchas

  • Plandalf has no ActiveCampaign steps. The sync call is a Send Webhook that Plandalf does not sign, and the API key sits in its headers.
  • ActiveCampaign's reference says creating needs the add-contacts permission and updating needs the edit-contacts permission. A key without them is refused.
  • ActiveCampaign's page lists its WordPress plugin as available on its Starter, Professional, Plus and Enterprise plans, and form types differ in what they support. Check your plan before choosing a form type.
  • Plandalf's WordPress guide warns that caching and optimisation plugins can move or delay scripts, so test the published page.
  • Plandalf's MemberPress plugin is an early-access source release. Do not treat it as a working connection between WordPress memberships and Plandalf.

WordPress and ActiveCampaign: common questions

Does WordPress integrate with ActiveCampaign?
Yes, ActiveCampaign offers a WordPress plugin that embeds its forms and supports site tracking. Plandalf is separate and links to ActiveCampaign by webhook, not by the plugin.
How do I connect ActiveCampaign to a Plandalf checkout on WordPress?
Put the Plandalf button on the page and build a sequence on Checkout Completed with a Send Webhook step to ActiveCampaign's contact sync endpoint. The recipe above lists each setting.
ActiveCampaign WordPress integration: do I need the plugin for Plandalf to work?
No. The Plandalf button works from a Custom HTML block without the ActiveCampaign plugin. The plugin matters only if you want ActiveCampaign forms or tracking on the same site.
Can Zapier connect Plandalf and ActiveCampaign?
It can sit in the middle. Send Webhook posts to a Zapier webhook and you build the ActiveCampaign side in the Zap, after checking which actions Zapier offers.
