Checkout embed

PayPal + Webflow integration

Style the button in Webflow, add one custom attribute, and the Plandalf checkout it opens can take PayPal.

No credit card required. No coding required.

Does PayPal integrate with Webflow?

Webflow and PayPal are not linked directly by Plandalf. Webflow hosts the page and a button with a Plandalf custom attribute; PayPal is a payment option on the Plandalf offer once your PayPal Business account is connected. The guide does not configure Webflow Ecommerce order sync.

Open a PayPal-ready Plandalf checkout from a Webflow button

You need a Webflow site where custom code is allowed, a published Plandalf offer with PayPal added, and your offer slug.

  1. Check Webflow allows custom code

Webflow's own help page lists which Workspace and Site plans permit custom code in head and body tags. Confirm yours before you start.

  2. Add the SDK once

Open Site settings, then Custom code, paste the Plandalf script into Footer code and save. Do not repeat it in page code or an embed.

  3. Add the attributes to a button

Style a normal button in Designer. Under Element settings, Custom attributes, add data-plandalf-present with the offer slug and data-plandalf-mode set to test.

  4. Publish and look at the live page

Preview can render custom code, but visitors only get saved changes after you publish. Open the published page signed out and check the product, amount and currency in the checkout.

  5. Pay with a PayPal sandbox account

Connect the PayPal sandbox, choose PayPal, approve a sandbox payment and check the paid invoice in Plandalf. Then abandon one attempt at PayPal and confirm it leaves no paid invoice.

  6. Repeat on mobile and any inline placement

Test the button at a mobile width. If you use a data-plandalf-mount element, buy from that placement too, because a working popup does not prove an inline one.

What sellers do with PayPal and Webflow

Agency client with a design-led site

A studio builds a service page in Webflow and keeps every pixel in Designer. The booking fee goes through a Plandalf checkout so overseas clients can pay with PayPal.

Launch page with a countdown

A coach puts a promo countdown div and a buy button on one page. The button carries the promo slug too, and PayPal is listed in the same checkout.

Limits and gotchas

  • Webflow's guide sets up checkout only. It does not sync Webflow Ecommerce orders or deliver what you sell.
  • data-plandalf-promo shows a countdown widget. To apply promo pricing in checkout, the button needs data-plandalf-apply-promo.
  • Saved Webflow changes are not live until you publish them to the domain you are testing.
  • The Webflow guide warns that a missing test connection can fall back to live Stripe. Check which provider mode is connected before any payment test.
  • A PayPal refund does not start Invoice Refunded in Plandalf, so remove access by hand.

PayPal and Webflow: common questions

Does Webflow integrate with PayPal?
Plandalf links them from the page side. A Webflow button opens a Plandalf checkout, and PayPal is one of the payment options in that checkout.
How do I add a PayPal checkout to a Webflow site?
Add the Plandalf script under Site settings, Custom code, then give a Webflow button the data-plandalf-present attribute. Switch on PayPal for the offer in Plandalf.
Do I need Webflow Ecommerce to take PayPal this way?
No. The checkout runs in Plandalf. Webflow only needs the script and a button, and the plan must allow custom code.
Can I test the Webflow and PayPal setup without taking money?
Yes, with the PayPal sandbox. Complete an approved sandbox payment and also cancel one at PayPal, then check the invoice.
