Post-purchase flow for a PayPal-heavy store
A maker selling digital patterns gets many PayPal buyers. Each paid checkout creates a Klaviyo event that starts a thank-you and care-guide flow.

Webhook or Zapier
Plandalf posts a purchase event for each PayPal-paid checkout to Klaviyo's API, where a flow can pick it up.
No credit card required. No coding required.
PayPal
KlaviyoPlandalf has no Klaviyo steps or triggers, and it does not link PayPal to Klaviyo. A Plandalf sequence can use Send Webhook to call Klaviyo's Create Event endpoint when a PayPal-paid checkout completes, which can start a metric-triggered flow. A Klaviyo flow can also post to a Plandalf catch URL.
| Event | From and to | Through | What happens |
|---|---|---|---|
| Checkout completed | Plandalf (paid via PayPal) → Klaviyo | Webhook | Send Webhook posts to https://a.klaviyo.com/api/events with the buyer's email, a metric name you choose, and the total as the event value. A flow triggered by that metric can then send the emails. |
| Invoice paid | Plandalf (paid via PayPal) → Klaviyo | Webhook | Use this trigger when the event should also fire on renewals and invoices you send. Give it a different metric name so the flows stay separate. |
| Flow webhook enrols a profile | Klaviyo → Plandalf | Webhook | A webhook action in a Klaviyo flow posts JSON to a Plandalf catch URL. The sequence behind it can run Enroll in Promo for that email. |
| Countdown image in a flow email | Plandalf → Klaviyo | Plandalf's Klaviyo page describes pasting a countdown image into a flow email, with Klaviyo's merge tag for the recipient's email in the image address. | |
| Refund | PayPal → Klaviyo | By hand | A PayPal refund does not start Invoice Refunded, so no refund event reaches Klaviyo unless you send one from a sequence you start yourself. |
You need a Klaviyo private API key that can write events, a published Plandalf offer with PayPal added, and a flow you want to trigger.
Connect your PayPal Business account in Plandalf and switch PayPal on for the offer. Keep a card option for buyers who prefer it.
Under Automation, My Sequences, start a sequence on Plandalf, Checkout Completed, limited to that offer. Pick a recent checkout as the sample on the Test tab.
Choose Send Webhook with the method POST and the URL https://a.klaviyo.com/api/events. Add headers for Authorization (Klaviyo-API-Key followed by your private key), revision (a current value from Klaviyo's docs) and Content-Type of application/vnd.api+json.
Follow Klaviyo's shape: a data object of type event, with properties, a metric name such as Plandalf Order, a profile carrying {{trigger.customer_email}}, and the value and value_currency from the trigger.
Klaviyo expects value as a number. Run the step on the Test tab and inspect the output, because a text value in that field is a likely cause of a rejected event.
In Klaviyo make a flow triggered by that metric. Switch on Run on test purchases, pay with a PayPal sandbox account, check the Events view for a 202 reply, then switch the setting off.

A Klaviyo flow webhook posts members who have not opened email to a Plandalf catch URL. The sequence enrols them in a promo with a deadline before they check out.
