Native integration

Stripe + Teachable integration

The course is sold in a Plandalf checkout and paid through Stripe. Teachable delivers it, enrolling the student on payment and removing them on a refund.

No credit card required. No coding required.

Does Stripe integrate with Teachable?

Plandalf connects them with native Teachable steps rather than a direct Stripe-to-Teachable sync. Stripe takes the payment in a Plandalf checkout, and a sequence then finds or creates the Teachable student and enrols them in the course. A refund that succeeds in Stripe can remove them again. Teachable's API needs the Growth plan or higher.

What moves between Stripe and Teachable

Enrol Stripe buyers in a Teachable course

You need a Stripe account and a Teachable school on the Growth plan or higher.

  1. Connect Stripe and publish the checkout

In Plandalf authorize your Stripe account, attach a Stripe-backed price to the offer for your course and publish it. The card payment goes through Stripe into your Stripe account.

  2. Create a Teachable API key

In your school admin open Settings and the API tab, click Create API Key, enter Plandalf as the Name and click Create. Copy the key.

  3. Connect Teachable

In Plandalf open Automation, then Marketplace, and click Connect on Teachable. Paste the key into API Key. Plandalf checks it with Teachable and shows Teachable connected.

  4. Enrol on payment

Under My Sequences create Course buyers to Teachable with Plandalf and Checkout Completed, and pick the checkout under Offer. Add Teachable, Enrol Student in Course with Email Address {{trigger.customer_email}}, your Course and Name {{trigger.customer_name}}. An unpublished course is marked as such in the list.

  5. Remove on refund

Add Remove access on refund for the same checkout from Automation, then Templates. In its Remove Student from Course step pick the same Course, and add one removal step for each extra course the checkout sells.

  6. Try it with a Stripe test card

Turn on Run on test purchases, pay through the test link with a Stripe test card and look for the student in Teachable. Testing a step enrols a real student, so use your own email, and switch the setting off afterwards.

What sellers do with Stripe and Teachable

Single-course creators

One checkout, one course, one sequence. The payment creates the student and enrols them, so nobody has to enrol buyers by hand on launch day.

Course with a bonus course bump

The main sequence enrols the buyer in the flagship course. A separate sequence on Upsell Accepted enrols them in the bonus course, and the refund template carries a removal step for each course.

Several courses from one checkout

A bundle checkout runs one Enrol Student in Course step per course in the sequence. A matching Remove Student from Course step per course keeps a full refund from leaving half the bundle behind.

Limits and gotchas

  • Teachable's API is not available on lower plans. The connection fails with Authentication failed unless the school is on Growth or higher.
  • Students added through the API count toward Teachable's usage fees, and the schedule depends on when your school was created. Read Teachable's usage fees page for your own school before you sell at volume.
  • A partial refund leaves access alone by default, because the refund trigger runs on full refunds only. Switch that option off if you want every refund to remove the student.
  • Plandalf has no subscription-cancelled trigger, so a cancelled subscription does not end enrolment by itself.
  • The Course list comes from the school the key belongs to. An empty list usually means no courses yet or a key from a different school.

Stripe and Teachable: common questions

Does Stripe integrate with Teachable?
Plandalf connects them. A Plandalf checkout takes the payment through Stripe, and a sequence then enrols the student in Teachable. For checkout options inside Teachable itself, see Teachable's own documentation.
How do I give someone course access after a Stripe payment?
Use a sequence that starts on Checkout Completed for the course checkout and runs Teachable, Enrol Student in Course with the buyer's email. It creates the student first if they are new.
How do I remove Teachable access on a Stripe refund?
Add the Remove access on refund template for the checkout and choose the course in its Remove Student from Course step. It runs once the invoice is refunded in full in Stripe.
Do students enrolled through Plandalf cost extra in Teachable?
Teachable counts students added through its API toward its usage fees. The amounts depend on your school and change, so check Teachable's usage fees page rather than relying on a number here.
