A designer selling templates
Flodesk carries the branded emails, Mailchimp holds an older audience of the same customers. A buyer of a template pack lands in a Flodesk segment for product tips and gets a Mailchimp tag for the old list.

Native on one side, webhook on the other
Tag the buyer in Mailchimp with a native step and put them in a Flodesk segment with a Send Webhook call, from the same checkout.

Mailchimp
FlodeskPlandalf does not sync Mailchimp with Flodesk. Mailchimp has native Plandalf steps, while Flodesk is reached with Send Webhook against its API. One sequence can do both, and a Flodesk webhook created through its API can post to a Plandalf catch URL.
| Event | From and to | Through | What happens |
|---|---|---|---|
| Checkout completed | Plandalf → Mailchimp | Native step | Add or Update Contact and Add Tags to Contact write the buyer to the audience. Record Event can start a Customer Journey. |
| Checkout completed | Plandalf → Flodesk | Webhook | A Send Webhook step posts to Flodesk's subscribers endpoint with email, first_name and a segment_ids list. Flodesk's API uses HTTP Basic, with your API key as the username and an empty password. |
| Contact subscribed | Mailchimp → Flodesk | Webhook | The Mailchimp trigger starts the sequence, and its Send Webhook step creates or updates the Flodesk subscriber. |
| Subscriber added to segment | Flodesk → Plandalf | Webhook | You register a webhook in Flodesk's API with your Plandalf catch URL as post_url. Flodesk then posts JSON with an event_name and a subscriber object that carries the email. |
| Invoice refunded | Plandalf → Mailchimp | Native step | Remove access on refund removes the Mailchimp tag. Taking someone out of a Flodesk segment would be another Send Webhook call that you write from Flodesk's API reference. |
You need a Mailchimp key, a Flodesk API key and the ID of the Flodesk segment buyers should join.
In Automation, then Marketplace, connect Mailchimp. The key must include the part after the dash.
Make or pick the segment in Flodesk and note its identifier. Check Flodesk's API reference for where the ID is shown or how to list segments.
In My Sequences, choose Plandalf, Checkout Completed and your offer. Pick a recent checkout on the Test tab.
Add Add or Update Contact with {{trigger.customer_email}}, and Add Tags to Contact with the product name.
Add Send Webhook with POST to Flodesk's subscribers endpoint. Add an Authorization header holding Basic and your API key encoded with an empty password, and a JSON payload with email, first_name and segment_ids.
Run the step tests, which change real records, so use your own email. Then try a test card with Run on test purchases switched on, and look for the subscriber in the segment.
