Native integration

Stripe + Thinkific integration

A paid Plandalf checkout enrols the buyer in a Thinkific course or bundle, and a full refund through Stripe ends that access.

No credit card required. No coding required.

Does Stripe integrate with Thinkific?

Plandalf connects them with native Thinkific steps and no direct Stripe-to-Thinkific sync. Stripe takes the payment in a Plandalf checkout, then a sequence creates the Thinkific student if needed and enrols them in a course or bundle. A refund that succeeds in Stripe can end their access. Thinkific's API needs the Grow plan or above.

What moves between Stripe and Thinkific

Subscription cancelledStripeThinkificBy handPlandalf has no cancelled trigger. End access in Thinkific, or run Remove Student Access from a sequence you start yourself, such as one with a Webhook Trigger.

Enrol Stripe buyers in a Thinkific bundle

You need a Stripe account and a Thinkific school on the Grow plan or above.

  1. Connect Stripe and publish the checkout

Authorize Stripe in Plandalf, attach the Stripe-backed price for your bundle to an offer and publish it. Stripe processes the payment and the money lands in your Stripe account.

  2. Collect the subdomain and key

Your subdomain is the first part of your school address, so yourschool for yourschool.thinkific.com. In Thinkific open Settings, the Code & analytics tab and the API section, and copy the key. It is shown once, and Reset key gives you a new one if you missed it.

  3. Connect Thinkific

In Plandalf go to Automation, then Marketplace, and click Connect on Thinkific. Enter the School subdomain and API Key. A full school address pasted into the subdomain field is trimmed to the subdomain.

  4. Enrol on payment

Create Bundle buyers to Thinkific under My Sequences with Plandalf and Checkout Completed for your checkout. Add Thinkific, Enrol Student with Email Address {{trigger.customer_email}}, the bundle under Course or bundle, and First Name and Last Name from {{trigger.customer_first_name}} and {{trigger.customer_last_name}}.

  5. Decide on the welcome email

Send Thinkific welcome email is on by default and only goes to students who are new. Turn it off if a Plandalf email of your own already carries the sign-in details.

  6. End access on refund

Add Remove access on refund for the same checkout under Automation, then Templates, and pick the same bundle in the Remove Student Access step. The trigger waits for a full refund unless you switch Full refunds only off.

  7. Rehearse with a test card

Switch on Run on test purchases, pay through the test link with a Stripe test card, then confirm the enrolment in Thinkific and switch the setting off. A step test enrols a real student and can send the welcome email, so use your own address.

What sellers do with Stripe and Thinkific

Bundles sold at one price

A school sells a bundle of courses at one price. A single Enrol Student step on the bundle replaces enrolling the buyer in each course, and a single Remove Student Access step ends all of it on a refund.

Course upgrade after the first purchase

Students who bought the starter course are offered the advanced course after checkout. Upsell Accepted enrols them in it,.

Re-purchase after a refund

Because Thinkific keeps the enrolment record, a buyer who pays again after a refund is simply enrolled again and their access comes back, without a duplicate student.

Limits and gotchas

  • Thinkific's API is not available on lower plans. Authentication failed also appears when the key was reset, so check both.
  • Thinkific shows the API key once. If you reset it to get a new copy, update anything else that used the old key.
  • Thinkific requires a last name. When the Last Name field is blank Plandalf sends a dash, and a blank First Name falls back to the start of the email address.
  • The welcome email goes to new students only. Someone who was already a student gets none, even with the option on.
  • Plandalf has no subscription-cancelled trigger, so cancelling a plan leaves the enrolment in place.
  • Remove Student Access ends access but does not delete the student or the enrolment record.
