# Stripe + MailerLite integration

A paid Plandalf checkout puts the buyer into a MailerLite group, and a refund in Stripe takes them back out, so the group matches who actually paid.

## Does Stripe integrate with MailerLite?

Plandalf connects them with native MailerLite steps; there is no direct Stripe-to-MailerLite sync. Stripe takes the payment in a Plandalf checkout, then a Plandalf sequence finds or creates the MailerLite subscriber, adds them to a group and updates their fields. A new MailerLite subscriber can also start a Plandalf sequence.

## What moves between Stripe and MailerLite

What happens

Checkout completed

Plandalf (paid via Stripe)MailerLite

Native step

Find or Create Subscriber runs first and returns a `subscriber_id`. Add Subscriber to Group takes that ID, not the buyer's email address, which is the mapping mistake people make most.

Invoice paid

Plandalf (paid via Stripe)MailerLite

Native step

Fires on renewals and on invoices you send as well as on checkouts, so it is the trigger for Update Subscriber Fields when a field such as `plan` should follow the latest payment.

Upsell accepted

Plandalf (paid via Stripe)MailerLite

Native step

A second sequence can add only the people who took the add-on to a separate group, so a MailerLite automation tied to that group emails them and nobody else.

Cart abandoned

PlandalfMailerLite

Native step

A visitor who typed an email but did not pay can be put in a group after a wait of 5 minutes to 7 days. The trigger has a switch to skip visitors from the EU, EEA and UK.

Invoice refunded

StripeMailerLite

Native step

Remove Subscriber from Group finds the subscriber by email and drops the group membership. They stay in your MailerLite account, and someone who was never in the group is skipped rather than failed.

Subscriber created

MailerLitePlandalf

Native step

Plandalf adds the webhook to your MailerLite account through the API when you save the trigger. Pick a group to limit it, then use Enroll in Promo to start a countdown for each new subscriber.

## Add every Stripe buyer to a MailerLite group

You need a Stripe account, and a MailerLite account on the current MailerLite (not Classic).

1. ### Connect Stripe and publish a checkout

Authorize your Stripe account from the Plandalf dashboard, attach a Stripe-backed price to an offer and publish it. Cards are charged through Stripe and the money goes to your Stripe account.

2. ### Make the group, then the token

In MailerLite create a Customers group, and any custom fields you want filled. Then open Integrations in the sidebar, choose MailerLite API, click Use and Generate new token. Name it Plandalf, leave All IPs allowed on and copy the token, because MailerLite shows it once.

3. ### Connect MailerLite

In Plandalf go to Automation, then Marketplace, find MailerLite under Available now and click Connect. Paste the token into API Key. Plandalf checks it with MailerLite and shows MailerLite connected.

4. ### Start a sequence from the checkout

Under My Sequences create one called Buyers to MailerLite. Choose Plandalf, then Checkout Completed, and pick your checkout under Offer. On the Test tab choose a recent checkout as the sample so the variable menu fills in.

5. ### Add the two steps

Add MailerLite, Find or Create Subscriber with Email Address set to `{{trigger.customer_email}}` and Name set to `{{trigger.customer_name}}`, and run its test. Then add MailerLite, Add Subscriber to Group, pick `subscriber_id` from the first step for Subscriber ID and choose the Customers group.

6. ### Remove them on refund

Under Automation, then Templates, add Remove access on refund for the same checkout. In its Remove Subscriber from Group step pick the Customers group. The trigger is Invoice Refunded with Full refunds only switched on, so a goodwill partial refund leaves the group alone.

7. ### Rehearse with a Stripe test card

Switch on Run on test purchases in the sequence settings, pay through the checkout's test link with a Stripe test card, then look at the Events view and at the subscriber in MailerLite. Switch the setting off again. Step tests change a real subscriber, so use your own email.

## What sellers do with Stripe and MailerLite

### Template and download sellers

Each digital product gets its own checkout and its own sequence, filtered by Offer, that adds buyers to a group named for that product. The MailerLite automation on that group sends the how-to-use emails, and a refund empties the group so those emails stop.

### Cohort workshops

Run one group per cohort and one sequence per cohort checkout. Reminder emails then go to people who paid for that date, and a refunded seat leaves the cohort group without anyone editing the list.

### Free list to paid tier

Subscribers who join the free group start a Plandalf sequence with Enroll in Promo, which gives each person their own countdown. Those who pay are added to a Paying group by Checkout Completed, and MailerLite can then stop sending them the sales emails.

## Limits and gotchas

- Only the current MailerLite connects. MailerLite Classic uses a different API and the connection will fail.
- The token acts with the permissions of the MailerLite user who made it. If that user is removed from the account, the token stops working and the steps start failing.
- Remove Subscriber from Group only takes away group membership. It does not unsubscribe the person or delete them, and any other group they are in is untouched.
- A paid invoice is not consent to marketing email. Check your checkout terms before a group that starts a MailerLite campaign receives buyers.
- Plandalf has no subscription-cancelled trigger, so cancelling a subscription does not change the group. Take the subscriber out in MailerLite, or start a Remove Subscriber from Group sequence yourself.
- Test purchases skip automations unless the sequence has Run on test purchases switched on, while a test run of a single step really does change the subscriber.

## Stripe and MailerLite: common questions

Does Stripe integrate with MailerLite?

Not as a direct sync that Plandalf provides. Stripe processes the payment in a Plandalf checkout, and a Plandalf sequence then adds the buyer to a MailerLite group or updates their fields. For anything MailerLite itself offers with Stripe, check MailerLite's own integrations list.

How do I connect Stripe to MailerLite?

Connect Stripe to Plandalf and publish a checkout, generate an API token under Integrations, then MailerLite API in MailerLite and connect it from Automation, then Marketplace. After that a sequence that starts on Checkout Completed runs Find or Create Subscriber and Add Subscriber to Group.

Can I send Stripe sales to MailerLite automatically?

Yes, for sales that go through a Plandalf checkout or invoice. Checkout Completed and Invoice Paid both start sequences, and a sequence adds the buyer to a group; the amount paid is not sent as a MailerLite order.

What happens in MailerLite when I refund in Stripe?

If the refund covers the whole invoice, the Invoice Refunded trigger starts your refund sequence, and its Remove Subscriber from Group step takes the buyer out of the group. This works for refunds made from the Stripe dashboard as well.
