# Stripe + Klaviyo integration

Stripe takes the payment, Plandalf runs the checkout, and a Send Webhook step can hand the purchase to Klaviyo as an event.

## Does Stripe integrate with Klaviyo?

Plandalf has no Klaviyo steps and does not sync Stripe customers or invoices into Klaviyo. Klaviyo documents its own Stripe integration for that. What Plandalf adds is Send Webhook: a sequence on a paid checkout can post an event to Klaviyo's API, and a Klaviyo flow can post back to a Plandalf catch URL.

## What moves between Stripe and Klaviyo

Through

What happens

Checkout completed

Plandalf (paid via Stripe)Klaviyo

Webhook

A Send Webhook step posts to Klaviyo's create-event endpoint with a metric name you choose, the buyer's email as the profile identifier and the order total as the event value. The event can then start a metric-triggered flow.

Cart recovery

PlandalfKlaviyo

Webhook

When a payment fails, the trigger carries a `retry_url`. Passing it as an event property lets a Klaviyo flow write the recovery email instead of a Plandalf Send Email step.

Invoice refunded

Webhook

A refund that succeeds in Stripe starts the Invoice Refunded trigger. A webhook step can record it as a Klaviyo event so the buyer leaves a post-purchase flow.

Flow webhook action

Webhook

A Klaviyo flow's Webhook action sends a POST with a JSON body to a Plandalf catch URL, for example to enrol the profile in a countdown promo with Enroll in Promo.

## Record each Plandalf sale in Klaviyo as an event

You need a published Plandalf checkout on Stripe and a Klaviyo private API key that can write events.

1. ### Create the Klaviyo key

In Klaviyo create a private API key with the `events:write` scope. Klaviyo's reference says each request also needs a `revision` header in date form, so copy the current one from its docs.

2. ### Start a sequence from the checkout

In Plandalf go to Automation, then My Sequences, and create a sequence with Plandalf as the app and Checkout Completed as the trigger. On the Test tab pick your latest checkout as the sample so the variable menu fills.

3. ### Add a Send Webhook step

Choose Plandalf, Send Webhook. Set the URL to Klaviyo's events endpoint, the method to POST, and add an `Authorization` header holding `Klaviyo-API-Key` and your key, plus the `revision` header.

4. ### Build the payload

Write a JSON body in Klaviyo's shape: a `metric` object with a name such as Plandalf Order, a `profile` object whose email is `{{trigger.customer_email}}`, `properties` with `{{trigger.line_items_summary}}` and `{{trigger.invoice_number}}`, and a numeric `value` of `{{trigger.total_amount}}`.

5. ### Run the step test

Test the step with your own email. A step test is real and writes to Klaviyo. Klaviyo's reference lists HTTP 202 as the success reply, so look for that in the step output.

6. ### Switch the sequence on and rehearse

Turn the sequence on, enable Run on test purchases in its Settings, buy with a Stripe test card, read the run in the Events view, then switch the setting off. Build the Klaviyo flow on the new metric afterwards.

## What sellers do with Stripe and Klaviyo

### Ecommerce brand with a standing Klaviyo flow

A store that already runs welcome and winback flows in Klaviyo records each Plandalf upsell as its own metric, so buyers of the add-on get a different follow-up than buyers of the main product.

### Segments by what a launch buyer bought

Launch buyers are recorded with the offer name as an event property. A Klaviyo segment on that property then picks who gets the next drop.

### Countdown email for a flash sale

A Klaviyo list-triggered flow posts each profile to a Plandalf catch URL. The Plandalf countdown image in the email shows that person's own deadline.

## Limits and gotchas

- Klaviyo's own Stripe integration is a separate, one-way sync from Stripe into Klaviyo that you set up with a Stripe webhook. Plandalf is not part of it, and it only creates a profile when a listed Stripe event has a valid email.
- Klaviyo's flow Webhook action sends POST requests only, needs an HTTPS URL that does not redirect, and its body must be JSON. Editing webhook actions needs two-step authentication and a Manager, Admin or Owner role.
- Plandalf's Send Webhook gives the receiver 30 seconds to answer, and its docs do not promise retries or exactly-once delivery. Check the run in the Events view before you resend a step, so one sale does not become two events.
- Plandalf cannot start a sequence when a buyer cancels a subscription, so a Klaviyo churn flow has to come from Klaviyo or Stripe data.
- Marketing consent is yours to manage. A purchase event does not subscribe anyone to Klaviyo email by itself.

## Stripe and Klaviyo: common questions

Does Stripe integrate with Klaviyo?

Yes, Klaviyo documents a Stripe integration of its own that syncs invoices and payment outcomes into Klaviyo. Plandalf is separate from it. Plandalf's route is a webhook that posts an event to Klaviyo after a paid Plandalf checkout.

How do I connect Stripe to Klaviyo?

Either use Klaviyo's Stripe integration, which needs a Stripe webhook pointed at Klaviyo, or send Plandalf purchases with a Send Webhook step to Klaviyo's events API. The setup above covers the second.

Can Plandalf send Stripe purchases to Klaviyo?

Yes, through Send Webhook. Plandalf has no Klaviyo app, so you write the event body yourself with trigger variables such as the buyer's email and the order total.

Can a Klaviyo flow start a Plandalf countdown?

Yes. Add a Webhook action to the flow that posts the profile's email to a Plandalf catch URL, and have that sequence run Enroll in Promo.
