Native on one side, webhook on the other

# Stripe + beehiiv integration

Readers click a Plandalf checkout link in a beehiiv post, Stripe takes the payment, and a webhook step can add the buyer as a subscriber.

## Does Stripe integrate with beehiiv?

Native subscriber or buyer sync between Plandalf and beehiiv is not available. What works today is a hosted Plandalf checkout link in a beehiiv post or page, paid through your Stripe account, and a countdown image in an HTML Snippet block. Adding buyers as subscribers needs a Send Webhook step you set up yourself.

What happens

Reader clicks a checkout link

beehiivPlandalf

By hand

You paste the offer's hosted checkout link into a Button block in a post, or into a custom page on your beehiiv website. It is an ordinary link, so email clients do not need to run any script.

Payment

PlandalfStripe

Payment connection

The charge runs in the Stripe account you connected in Plandalf. This is separate from the Stripe connection beehiiv uses for its own paid subscriptions and digital products.

Countdown in the email

Plandalfbeehiiv

Checkout embed

A Plandalf promo generates image code for beehiiv, using beehiiv's `{{subscriber_id}}` merge tag as the reference. You paste it into an HTML Snippet block, which needs an eligible beehiiv plan or trial.

Checkout completed

Plandalf (paid via Stripe)beehiiv

Webhook

Plandalf creates no beehiiv subscriber after a purchase. A Send Webhook step can call beehiiv's create-subscription endpoint with the buyer's email if you want one.

## Link a checkout from a post and add buyers as subscribers

You need a published Plandalf offer with a Stripe price, a beehiiv publication you can edit, and a beehiiv API key if you want buyer sync.

1. ### Copy the hosted link

In Plandalf open the offer and copy its Test mode link while you rehearse. Swap in the public link before you send. Do not paste the SDK script or an iframe into an email.

2. ### Add a Button block

In the beehiiv post type `/`, choose Button, set a label such as Open checkout and paste the link. Preview the email and click through to confirm the product and total.

3. ### Add the countdown image if you have a promo

In Plandalf open the promo, choose Emails, then beehiiv, and copy the Email timer code. In the post type `/`, choose HTML snippet and paste it unchanged, keeping the merge tag.

4. ### Create the buyer sync sequence

Under Automation, My Sequences, start a sequence on Checkout Completed for the offer. Add Send Webhook set to POST on beehiiv's create-subscription URL for your publication.

5. ### Fill the headers and body

Add an `Authorization` header with your beehiiv bearer key. In the JSON body set `email` to `{{trigger.customer_email}}`, and decide on `send_welcome_email` and `reactivate_existing` deliberately.

6. ### Rehearse with your own email

A step test writes to beehiiv for real, so use your own address. Turn on Run on test purchases, buy with a Stripe test card, read the run in the Events view and then switch the setting off.

## What sellers do with Stripe and beehiiv

### Paid workshop announced in a newsletter

A creator emails the list a Button linking to the workshop checkout and adds a countdown image. Late buyers can be added as subscribers if they were not on the list.

### Product drop on a beehiiv website

A writer selling a guide on the beehiiv website points a custom page's button at a hosted checkout, which keeps the product page inside beehiiv.

### Separate the two paywalls

A publisher who sells beehiiv paid tiers for the newsletter keeps ebook sales on Plandalf and Stripe, so the one-off products do not sit inside the subscription system.

## Limits and gotchas

- Hosted checkout links and promo email images work today. Plandalf does not currently create a beehiiv subscriber after a purchase, so buyer sync is a consent-aware automation you build and test.
- beehiiv's create-subscription endpoint requires only an email, and custom fields must already exist in the publication or they are dropped. The beehiiv reference does not state plan requirements, so check your plan's API access.
- The beehiiv replay stopped at a checkout that showed Payment Setup Required, because its local organisation had no test payment provider. A visible checkout is not proof of a paid invoice or subscriber.
- beehiiv's HTML Snippet block needs an eligible paid plan or trial, and the countdown is an image, not an interactive checkout. The same subscriber ID must be used when enrolling the person and when the image loads.
- Plandalf has no subscription-cancelled trigger, so a lapsed buyer is not removed from beehiiv on its own.

## Stripe and beehiiv: common questions

Does Stripe integrate with beehiiv?

beehiiv connects Stripe for its own paid subscriptions and digital products, which is its feature and not Plandalf's. Plandalf and beehiiv do not sync natively. Plandalf links a Stripe-backed checkout from your posts.

How do I connect Stripe to beehiiv for Plandalf checkouts?

You do not connect them to each other. Connect Stripe to Plandalf, publish an offer, and paste its hosted checkout link into a beehiiv Button block.

Can I add Stripe buyers to beehiiv as subscribers?

Yes, with a Send Webhook step that calls beehiiv's API after Checkout Completed. Plandalf has no beehiiv step, so check consent first and test with your own email.

Can I put a Plandalf countdown in a beehiiv email?

Yes. Copy the Email timer code for beehiiv from the promo and paste it into an HTML Snippet block. It needs a beehiiv plan or trial that includes that block.
