## Does Shopify integrate with Drip?

Plandalf does not read your Shopify orders. It does have native Drip steps, so a Plandalf offer opened from a Shopify page can create the subscriber, apply a tag and record a purchase event for a Drip workflow, with no Zapier. For orders from the cart, look at Drip's own integrations.

A theme button with `data-plandalf-present` opens the offer next to the cart. The payment is taken by your Stripe or PayPal account.

Native step

Apply Tag adds a tag such as Preorder Club and creates the subscriber if Drip does not have the email.

Native step

Record Event writes a custom event with the name your workflow starts from. A `value` property set to `{{trigger.total}}`, already in cents, counts the event as revenue in Drip.

Invoice refunded

StripeDrip

Native step

Remove Tag, added by the Remove access on refund template, takes the tag off after a full refund. It is skipped if Drip has no subscriber with that email.

Native step

Plandalf adds a webhook in your Drip account under Settings, then Webhooks, when you save the trigger. A sequence can run Enroll in Promo for anyone Drip tags as a lead.

## Tag a Plandalf buyer in Drip and start a workflow from a Shopify page sale

You need a Shopify theme you can edit, a published Plandalf offer and a Drip login that can open User Settings and Account settings.

1. ### Install the offer button in the theme

Paste the Plandalf SDK script before the closing `body` tag of `theme.liquid` and add a `data-plandalf-present` button with your offer slug where the pre-order or upgrade belongs. Complete a Shopify order separately to confirm the cart still works.

2. ### Collect the Drip token and account ID

In Drip open Settings, then User Settings, and copy the API Token from the User Info tab. Then open Settings, Account and copy the Account ID under General Info, which is a number.

3. ### Connect Drip

In Plandalf open Automation, then Marketplace, click Connect on Drip and paste the token into API Token and the number into Account ID. Plandalf checks both and shows Drip connected.

4. ### Apply the tag

Under My Sequences choose Plandalf and Checkout Completed for the offer. Add Drip, Apply Tag with Email Address as `{{trigger.customer_email}}`, your tag, and First Name as `{{trigger.customer_first_name}}`.

5. ### Record the purchase event

Add Drip, Record Event with an Event Name such as Bought Preorder Club. Add event properties `product` as `{{trigger.line_items_summary}}` and `value` as `{{trigger.total}}`. In Drip build a workflow that starts on a subscriber performing that event.

6. ### Test, then turn on refunds

Turn on Run on test purchases, buy through the test link with your own email, and check the subscriber and event in Drip. Then add Remove access on refund for the offer and pick the tag.

## What sellers do with Shopify and Drip

### Pre-order club for limited stock

A store opens a paid pre-order club as a Plandalf offer from a product page that is sold out in the cart. Members get a tag and a workflow that sends restock and shipping updates ahead of the public.

### Event ticket beside a merch store

A venue sells merchandise through the Shopify cart and tickets through Plandalf. Each ticket records a Drip event with revenue, so the ticket emails run in a workflow of their own.

## Limits and gotchas

- Plandalf sends purchases to Drip as custom events, not as Drip orders, so a Plandalf sale will not appear as a Drip order or product.
- Drip allows 3,600 requests an hour per account and refuses two changes to one subscriber at the same moment. Plandalf retries twice, and you can re-run a step that still fails.
- Generating a new Drip API token stops the old one, so steps start to fail until you paste the new token into the connection under My apps.
- Plandalf has no triggers for Drip email opens or clicks, only for subscriber created, tag applied and unsubscribed.
- For orders from the Shopify cart, check Drip's own integrations list. Nothing on this page changes how that works.

## Shopify and Drip: common questions

Does Shopify integrate with Drip?

Check Drip's own integrations list for how it handles Shopify orders. Between Plandalf and Drip, the connection is native, and a Plandalf offer opened from a Shopify page can tag the buyer and record an event in Drip.

How do I add Plandalf buyers to Drip from a Shopify page?

Open the offer from a theme button, connect Drip with your API token and account ID, and build a sequence on Checkout Completed with Apply Tag and Record Event. The recipe above gives the settings.

Shopify Drip integration: does the purchase value reach Drip?

Yes, if you add a `value` event property set to `{{trigger.total}}` in Record Event, which counts as revenue in Drip. It is stored on the event and not as a Drip order.

Can a Drip tag start something in Plandalf?

Yes. The Tag Applied to Subscriber trigger starts a sequence, for example one that runs Enroll in Promo to begin a countdown for that person.
