Plandalf connects them: PayPal takes the payment on a Plandalf checkout and Slack receives the message. Plandalf's Slack notifications recipe and its Send Slack Message step post purchases and paid invoices. The refund notification is documented for refunds that succeed in Stripe, so PayPal refunds will not post by themselves. ## What moves between PayPal and Slack Event From and to Through What happens New purchase Plandalf (paid via PayPal)Slack Native step The Slack notifications recipe posts when a customer completes a checkout. The PayPal docs say completion runs the same path as a card payment, so the post should appear for PayPal orders; one sandbox payment shows it. Useful when a PayPal-order sequence for Kit or a course app breaks. ## Post PayPal orders to #sales in Slack You need permission to add apps to your Slack workspace and a published Plandalf checkout with PayPal on it. 1. ### Put PayPal on the checkout Connect PayPal in Plandalf and enable it on the offer beside card payment. Connect the PayPal sandbox environment as well. 2. ### Connect Slack Go to Automation, Marketplace, Slack, Connect, then Add to Slack. Check the workspace in the corner of the Slack window and click Allow. No API key is involved. 3. ### Switch on the recipe Under Automation, Templates, open Slack notifications under Recipes. Turn on New purchase, choose a Channel, edit the Message if you like and click Save. 4. ### Or write your own message For one offer only, create a sequence on Plandalf, Checkout Completed, limited to that offer. Add Slack, Send Slack Message with a Channel and text such as `:tada: {{trigger.customer_first_name}} bought {{trigger.line_items_summary}} for {{trigger.total_amount}} {{trigger.currency}}`. 5. ### Check a private channel For a private channel, add the Plandalf app to the channel in Slack first, under the channel's Integrations. Then it appears in the channel list. 6. ### Rehearse with PayPal Approve a PayPal sandbox payment. The step test posts a real message, so tell the channel first. If a recipe notification stays silent, check the sequence's Events view. ## What sellers do with PayPal and Slack ### A solo founder watching the first sales Each order posts to a private channel on a phone, with the amount and the line items. International PayPal orders show their currency through the `currency` variable. ### A small team splitting fulfilment Purchases of one offer post to a fulfilment channel with the buyer's email. Someone ships or sends the access, then replies in thread. ## Limits and gotchas - The Refund notification is documented for refunds that succeed in Stripe, so a refund in PayPal does not post. Partial refunds post on Stripe refunds as well. - Voided invoices do not post. - Slack messages are text. The recipe does not add the payment method, so put it in your own message if the team needs it. - A private channel is missing from the list until you add the Plandalf app to it. - If Slack refuses a message, the step still finishes and its output shows status failed with Slack's error code. ## PayPal and Slack: common questions Does PayPal integrate with Slack? Not directly through Plandalf. PayPal pays on a Plandalf checkout and Plandalf posts the order to Slack. Check PayPal's and Slack's own integration lists for a route that skips Plandalf. How do I connect PayPal to Slack? Enable PayPal on a Plandalf offer, connect Slack under Automation, then turn on the Slack notifications recipe or add a Send Slack Message step to a sequence. Will a PayPal refund notify Slack? Not automatically. The Refund notification follows refunds that succeed in Stripe. For PayPal refunds, post a message by hand or from a sequence you start yourself. Can Slack tell me when an automation fails? Yes.
