## Does PayPal integrate with beehiiv?

Plandalf has no native beehiiv subscriber or buyer sync, and it does not connect PayPal to beehiiv. What works today is a link or button in a beehiiv post that opens a Plandalf hosted checkout, where PayPal is a payment option. Adding the buyer to beehiiv needs a separate automation, such as Send Webhook to beehiiv's API.

What happens

Reader clicks to buy

beehiivPlandalf

By hand

A button or link in a post or website page points at the offer's hosted checkout URL. It is a normal link, so email clients need no Plandalf JavaScript.

Payment

PlandalfPayPal

Payment connection

PayPal appears in the checkout only for offers where you added it as a payment option. The money goes to the PayPal Business account you connected.

Checkout completed

Webhook

No built-in step creates a beehiiv subscriber. A sequence can call beehiiv's create-subscription endpoint with Send Webhook, using the buyer's `{{trigger.customer_email}}`.

Promo countdown in a post

Checkout embed

On an eligible beehiiv plan, an HTML Snippet block can show a Plandalf countdown image generated under Promos, Emails.

Refund

By hand

A refund made in PayPal does not start Invoice Refunded, which is documented for Stripe refunds. Remove a buyer from paid content yourself.

## Sell to beehiiv readers with PayPal, then add them as subscribers

This uses the hosted checkout link for the sale and an optional webhook for the subscriber. The webhook part is your own build; Plandalf has no beehiiv step.

1. ### Connect PayPal and publish the offer

Authorize your PayPal Business account in Plandalf, add PayPal to the offer, and publish it. Copy the offer's Test mode link for the first run.

2. ### Put the link in a post

In the beehiiv editor, type `/` on an empty line and choose Button. Point it at the hosted checkout URL. Preview the email before you send anything.

3. ### Pay once in the sandbox

Open the test link from the draft, choose PayPal and approve a sandbox payment. Also cancel at PayPal and return to confirm the invoice stays unpaid.

4. ### Create the sequence for subscribers

Under Automation, My Sequences, start a sequence on Checkout Completed for this offer. Add Send Webhook with the method POST, the URL for beehiiv's create-subscription endpoint for your publication, and an `Authorization: Bearer` header holding your beehiiv API key.

5. ### Send the buyer's details

Set the JSON Payload to carry `email` as `{{trigger.customer_email}}`. beehiiv requires only the email; leave its welcome email and reactivation flags at their defaults unless the buyer agreed to your newsletter.

6. ### Rehearse the sequence

Switch on Run on test purchases for the sequence, pay in the sandbox, then check the Events view for the webhook reply and your beehiiv subscriber list. Switch the setting off afterwards.

## What sellers do with PayPal and beehiiv

### Paid workshop announced to subscribers

A creator emails the list about a live workshop. The button goes to a Plandalf checkout where some readers pay by card and others choose PayPal, with no beehiiv paid tier involved.

### Sponsor-funded digital product

A newsletter writer sells a template pack from a post and watches paid invoices in Plandalf. Only buyers who agreed to your newsletter should be sent on to beehiiv by the webhook.

## Limits and gotchas

- beehiiv's page in Plandalf's docs says native subscriber or buyer sync is not currently available. Treat the webhook route as something you build and test yourself.
- beehiiv's create-subscription call needs an API token with the subscriptions write scope, and custom fields you send are dropped unless they already exist for the publication.
- Adding a buyer to a newsletter is a marketing decision. Check your checkout and terms cover it before you send anyone to beehiiv.
- The HTML Snippet block that shows a countdown needs an eligible beehiiv plan or trial, as the Plandalf guide notes.
- Plandalf's refund trigger is documented for Stripe refunds, so a PayPal refund will not unsubscribe or restrict anyone on its own.

## PayPal and beehiiv: common questions

Does PayPal integrate with beehiiv?

Plandalf does not connect them. A beehiiv post can link to a Plandalf checkout that offers PayPal, and a webhook step can add the buyer to beehiiv afterwards if you build it.

How do I sell with PayPal in a beehiiv newsletter?

Add PayPal to a Plandalf offer, then place its hosted checkout link in a beehiiv button. Readers pay on the Plandalf page, not inside beehiiv.

Can Plandalf add PayPal buyers to my beehiiv subscribers?

Not with a built-in step. You can use Send Webhook to call beehiiv's create-subscription endpoint with the buyer's email, once you have confirmed they agreed to hear from you.

Does the PayPal and beehiiv setup need Zapier?

No. Send Webhook can call beehiiv directly. Zapier is an alternative if you would rather map fields there.
