## Does Kit (ConvertKit) integrate with Mailchimp?

Plandalf does not sync Kit (ConvertKit) with Mailchimp, but it has native steps and triggers for both, so a sequence can pass a person from one to the other. A Kit form signup can add a Mailchimp contact, and a Mailchimp subscribe can put someone into a Kit form or sequence.

## What moves between Kit (ConvertKit) and Mailchimp

Event

From and to

Through

What happens

Subscriber joined form

KitMailchimp

Native step

Pick a Form on the Kit trigger or leave it blank for all. The sequence runs Add or Update Contact in Mailchimp with the subscriber's email and first name.

Contact subscribed

MailchimpKit

Native step

The Mailchimp trigger carries `email`, `first_name` and `merge_fields`. A Kit step such as Add Subscriber to Form then starts whatever automation hangs off that form.

Checkout completed

PlandalfKit

Native step

Tag Subscriber marks the buyer as a customer, and Update Subscriber Fields can store the plan.

Checkout completed

PlandalfMailchimp

Native step

Record Event writes a purchase event that a Customer Journey can start from. Mailchimp events carry no revenue.

Contact unsubscribed

MailchimpKit

Native step

The trigger exposes the `reason` Mailchimp reports. Plandalf has no Kit unsubscribe step, so the sequence can tag the person in Kit for an automation to act on.

## Pass Kit form signups into a Mailchimp audience

Connect Kit with a V4 API key and Mailchimp with its full API key before you start.

1. ### Connect both apps

In Automation, Marketplace, connect Kit and Mailchimp. Kit shows Kit connected, and Mailchimp needs the part of the key after the dash.

2. ### Trigger on the Kit form

In My Sequences choose Kit as the trigger app and Subscriber Joined Form. Pick the form. Plandalf adds a webhook in your Kit account when you save.

3. ### Add the Mailchimp contact

Add Mailchimp, Add or Update Contact. Map Email Address to the trigger's `email` and First Name to `first_name`, and choose Status for New Contacts.

4. ### Tag by source

Add Add Tags to Contact with a tag that names the Kit form, so a Mailchimp campaign can aim at people who came from it.

5. ### Start a journey

Add Record Event with a name such as `joined_kit_form`, and build a Customer Journey in Mailchimp that starts from that exact name.

6. ### Check the Test tab

Subscribe with your own address through the form, choose that sample on the Test tab, run each step and turn the sequence On.

## What sellers do with Kit (ConvertKit) and Mailchimp

### Lead magnet in Kit, promotions in Mailchimp

A coach collects emails with a Kit form but sends seasonal promotions from an existing Mailchimp audience. Every form signup also appears in the audience with a source tag.

### Customers who must stay out of lead emails

A Plandalf checkout tags buyers in both tools. A Kit segment and a Mailchimp tag then keep them out of pitches for the product they already own.

## Limits and gotchas

- The Mailchimp triggers fire for any change to the audience, Plandalf's own included, so a Mailchimp-to-Kit sequence and a Kit-to-Mailchimp sequence can bounce the same person around. Filter by form or tag.
- Kit does not show Plandalf purchases in its purchase history, since Plandalf uses a V4 API key. Mailchimp gets events, not ecommerce orders.
- Mailchimp does not create a merge field on the fly. Make the field in the audience first or the step fails with Mailchimp's reason.
- Kit allows 120 requests a minute per key, and Mailchimp allows 10 simultaneous connections per key. Plandalf retries each twice.
- Pending status makes Mailchimp send a confirmation email to new contacts. Do not combine that with a Kit double opt-in unless you want two.

## Kit (ConvertKit) and Mailchimp: common questions

Does Kit integrate with Mailchimp?

Plandalf does not sync them, but it has native steps and triggers for both, so a sequence can copy people between them in either direction.

How do I connect ConvertKit to Mailchimp?

Connect both under Automation, then build a sequence that starts on a Kit trigger such as Subscriber Joined Form and runs Mailchimp's Add or Update Contact. Or reverse it with the Mailchimp Contact Subscribed trigger.

Kit Mailchimp integration: can tags sync?

A Kit Tag Added trigger can run Mailchimp's Add Tags to Contact, so a tag set in Kit is mirrored for new events. Existing tags are not backfilled.

Do unsubscribes carry over?

Mailchimp's Contact Unsubscribed trigger can start a sequence, but Plandalf has no Kit unsubscribe step. Tag the person in Kit and let a Kit automation handle it.
